Who We Are
Soroptimist International is a global women’s organization working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Our years of experience working with women and girls has taught us that education is the key to unlocking economic empowerment. When women and girls are educated they have opportunity, choices and power to make healthy decisions for themselves and their families.
What We Do
Locally, in addition to supporting Soroptimist-wide programs, the North San Diego and Poway Soroptimist Clubs work together to provide a Transitional Housing Program for domestic violence survivors. This program moves families from dependency and abuse to a safe, self-sustaining life by providing housing, mentorship, and financial help. Since 1997, North San Diego and Poway clubs have helped 91 moms and 218 children. The proceeds generated by our event make this and our other programs possible including raising awareness of the devastating effects of Human Trafficking.
Watch the below video to learn more about the programs we support.
Domestic Violence Statistics

The number of people per minute physically abused by their intimate partner -- 1 in 4 of abused are men.
The percentage of people who are injured by intimate partners who receive medical care for their injuries.
The percentage of all murder-suicides that involve an intimate partner.
The number of calls placed to domestic violence hotlines every day.
The number of women who have been stalked in their lifetime. Over 60% of women reported being stalked by a current or former intimate partner.
